Four TikTokers arrested for shooting prank video inside Kilifi Police Station

Four TikTokers who did a prank video that police in Kilifi County have described as “malicious” have been arrested.

Shabir Ali Suleiman, 27, Samson Biwott Omungata, 17, Caleb Gunga Kahindi, 18, and 19-year-old Omar Juma Omar were arrested on Wednesday, May 8 following their “malicious” TikTok prank in front of Kilifi Police Station.

A report filed by Roy Rick Otieno — the manager AP Canteen Kilifi — says that a stranger entered the said canteen and approached the steward who was at the time cleaning.

The stranger, the report says, requested for permission to shoot a video inside the premise.

“He was denied but went ahead and stage managed a prank together with  his three accomplices. One guy pretended to be drunk  and got mugged/robbed by two other guys who were on a motor cycle while another was recording,” Otieno says in the report.

Two videos from the prank, titled ‘Wezi Mbele Ya Police Station’ and ‘Man Gets Robbed Off Near A Police Station’, would later be shared on social media — mainly TikTok — with an account named ‘@shabir_shirazy003’.

But, the problem is police are now saying that the video has tainted the image of police officers in Kilifi.

The team investigating the incident has retrieved CCTV footage showing the suspects shooting the video.
