The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has officially opened registration for individuals seeking to vie for elective seats on its ticket in the 2027 General Election, signaling the start of its preparations for the August 10 polls.

In a notice shared on the party’s official X account, DCP unveiled its registration guidelines and nomination fees for aspirants seeking various elective positions, including Member of County Assembly (MCA), Member of Parliament (MP), Woman Representative, Senator and Governor.

According to the notice, aspirants will pay KSh5,000 to contest for MCA seats and KSh10,000 for MP, Woman Representative and Senator positions, while those seeking gubernatorial seats will pay KSh50,000. Youths and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will pay half the standard registration fees.

The announcement comes barely a day after Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata officially joined the party, further boosting DCP’s growing political profile ahead of the next general election.

Welcoming the governor to the party at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua described Kang’ata’s move as a significant milestone.

“Welcome home, Governor Irungu Kang’ata, where you belong,” Gachagua said.

He added, “Today at Wamunyoro Residence, I was pleased to receive my younger brother, Governor Irungu Kang’ata, Governor of Murang’a County, as a member of our party, DCP, the party of the moment and the future.”

Gachagua also expressed confidence in the party’s growth ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Since its inception, the DCP Party has grown into a strong national party with millions of followers and thousands of prospective aspirants ahead of the 10th August 2027 polls,” he said.
