Kenya’s motorcycle industry continues to play a key role in public transport, delivery services and small businesses, with manufacturers competing for a share of a market that supports thousands of livelihoods. Against this backdrop, TVS Motor Company has appointed Pradeep Chaurasiya as Business Head of Africa for International Business, expanding his responsibilities to more than 50 countries across the continent.
Chaurasiya takes up the position after eight years with the company in Africa, having started with responsibility for a single country before progressing to a continent-wide leadership role.
The appointment places him at the centre of the company’s efforts across markets with varying consumer preferences, economic conditions and transport needs. He says understanding these differences has been critical to his experience, arguing that businesses cannot approach Africa as one uniform market.

“Africa is not one market. It is many, each with its own people, culture, and way of doing business,” he said.
In Kenya, motorcycles are widely used by boda boda operators and businesses that rely on affordable and flexible transport. Competition among manufacturers makes customer needs, product suitability and relationships with local distributors important considerations in the market.
Reflecting on his eight years in Africa, Chaurasiya said learning from mistakes, testing new ideas and adapting to different business environments had shaped his approach to leadership.
He also acknowledged the contribution of customers, distributors, business partners and colleagues to the company’s operations across the continent.
As he assumes the new role, attention will turn to how TVS navigates Africa’s diverse markets, including Kenya, where motorcycles remain an important part of the transport economy.
