Kibingei Girls grappling with prolonged water shortage, unpaid staff arrears

Kibingei Girls High School in Belgut, Kericho County, is grappling with severe challenges due to inadequate resources, with a prolonged water shortage and unpaid staff arrears affecting the institution’s operations.

For the past three months, students have been forced to fetch water from a nearby river, while the school is also struggling to clear staff arrears amounting to KSh874,000.

Speaking during the Form Four Prayer Day, Principal Jackline Ng’etich said the persistent water crisis due to road construction that affected pipes and the unpaid staff arrears continue to strain the school’s operations and negatively affect the learning environment. She noted that addressing the challenges would significantly improve the welfare of both students and staff.

The outgoing US Gotaabga International President, Janet Rutto, said the school is operating with minimal resources, making it increasingly difficult to run effectively. She joined the school administration in calling on the Ministry of Education and local leaders to intervene and help address the pressing challenges.
