The government and civil society organisations have been urged to strengthen collaboration to improve the learning environment and ensure every student has an opportunity to pursue and succeed in education.

Education stakeholders say greater community support for government initiatives, particularly through funding and supporting students facing financial challenges, can play a key role in building a well-educated and skilled generation.

They noted that such efforts would contribute to Kenya’s social and economic development by ensuring that vulnerable students are not forced to abandon their education due to financial constraints.

The call was made by officials from Lizah Foundation International during a visit to New Creation Children’s Home, where the foundation provided educational support to children at the centre.

Lizah Foundation International Director-General Elizabeth Mutuku also encouraged the children to make positive and informed decisions that would help them build successful futures.

“If we work together as a community to educate these children, our future as a nation will be much brighter. We also urge the government to increase funding for the education sector because education is the foundation of a nation. When every child gets an education, the nation will grow much stronger,” said Mutuku.

Lizah Foundation International supports students through mentorship and guidance, assists vulnerable families and promotes community awareness on social and environmental issues, including climate change.

The stakeholders emphasised that a strong partnership between the government, civil society organisations, donors and communities is essential to ensuring that every child, regardless of their economic background, has access to quality education and an opportunity to realise their full potential.
