“Money can’t buy the favor Sifuna has”—Pauline Njoroge

Jubilee Party’s Deputy Organising Secretary and political strategist Pauline Njoroge has come to the defence of Nairobi Senator and Linda Mwananchi faction leader Edwin Sifuna, arguing that political leadership is determined by divine favour rather than financial muscle.

In a post shared on her X account on July 14, 2026, Njoroge dismissed suggestions that wealth is the defining factor in the race for the presidency, saying Sifuna’s political journey is guided by a higher calling.

“What Francis Atwoli, Ken Lusaka and the like forget is that there is a kind of favor that money cannot buy. It is the favor under which Edwin Sifuna is walking,” she wrote.

Drawing from biblical examples, Njoroge said God’s favour has historically elevated ordinary people to positions of leadership regardless of their social or financial standing.

“It’s the kind of grace that lifted Joseph from slavery to the palace, the grace that took David from the shepherd’s field to the throne. The grace that pays no attention to wealth, seniority, age or status, but exalts whom God has chosen,” she stated.

She expressed confidence that Sifuna would eventually rise to the country’s highest office despite criticism over his financial capacity.

“The Sifuna you look down upon today because he does not have money is the very one you will soon address as His Excellency. And when that day comes, mtamsalimia na heshima,” she added.

Njoroge also insisted that ordinary Kenyans would finance Sifuna’s political ambitions.

“As for the campaign, leave that to us. Huyu ni wetu kama wananchi. Sisi ndio tutamshikilia, na hio pesa ni sisi wananchi tutampatia, kwa sababu Sisi Ndio Sifuna,” she wrote.

Her remarks came after COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli argued that winning the presidency requires substantial financial resources and influential networks, saying he could help raise up to KSh1 billion within a minute to support a presidential bid while maintaining that personal wealth alone cannot secure the country’s top seat.

“Kutafuta kiti kikubwa inataka pesa, na wewe ukitaka kuwa president katika Kenya hii mimi ndio naweza kusaidia wewe kuraise hata 1 billion kwa dakika moja ndio uwe President. Sisi ndio tuna marafiki na sisi ndio tunaweza kusaidia wewe upate urais. Pesa ya mtu binafsi haiwezi kufanya ukue Rais,”Atwoli said.
