Geoffrey Mosiria has accused Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja of sidelining him long before the latest changes to the county’s leadership, claiming he had been stripped of key responsibilities since December 2023.
Mosiria took to his social media on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, following the announcement of new assignments for three county chief officers, sarcastically thanking Sakaja for making what he described as his sacking official.
“Thank you, my boss, for making my sacking official,” he wrote in a social media post.
He claimed that on December 28, 2023, Sakaja took away his mandate as an accounting officer and transferred the responsibilities to junior officers, a move he described as unprocedural.
Mosiria further alleged that his budget in the health docket was reduced from KSh 1.2 billion to KSh 100 million, claiming the move made it difficult for him to perform his duties.
He linked the alleged changes to his refusal to participate in what he described as direct procurement arrangements favouring individuals close to the governor and his contractors.
Mosiria also claimed he had evidence of a WhatsApp conference call during which Sakaja confronted him, alleging that the governor’s Chief of Staff, Osman Khalif, was also present.
He said he was later moved to the Environment docket but was left with little responsibility, claiming his director reported directly to the governor.
“I was left idle in office doing nothing,” he said, adding that he opted to take to the streets to lead operations rather than remain inactive.
His remarks came after the Nairobi City County Government announced the reassignment of three chief officers, with the changes taking effect immediately.
According to the notice dated October 21 and signed by County Secretary Machel Waikenda, Eng. Samwel Njogu was assigned as Acting Chief Officer for Mobility.
Zipporah Njeri Mwangi was assigned to City Culture, Arts and Tourism, while also taking up acting responsibilities for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.
Godfrey Akumali was assigned to Housing and Urban Renewal, alongside acting responsibilities for Lands.
