Oparanya endorsed as Odinga family political advisor

The family of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga visited the homestead of former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in Mabole, Butere Constituency.

The delegation, led by Raila Junior, son to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, and Jakoyo Oginga, son to Dr. Oburu Oginga, together with elders from the Kawar clan, endorsed Oparanya as the family’s political advisor.

The family recognized Oparanya’s long-standing relationship with the late Raila Odinga, and his loyalty during his time working with him.

The delegation also emphasized the historic relationship between the Luo and Luhya communities dating back to 1963 when Kenya attained independence, urging the two communities to continue working together in politics and development, and to strengthen their unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On his part, Oparanya welcomed the endorsement and vowed to guide the family politically, saying he is experienced and had learned a lot from his close working relationship with Baba.

Oparanya also called on the two communities to continue working together to promote unity and development, and to grow the ODM party which he termed as the biggest legacy of the late Raila Odinga.

In a symbolic gesture, Oparanya revealed that he has a special room in his Mabole home that was exclusively reserved for Raila Odinga whenever he visited Kakamega.

The family delegation resolved that the room will now be reserved for the current ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga whenever he visits.
