For too long, the Kamba community has been treated like a political ATM. Every election cycle, leaders come to Ukambani, withdraw our votes, and disappear until the next campaign. Our loyalty has been taken for granted. Our votes have been sold cheap.
Not anymore.
The Kamba will no longer donate their 2 million votes. We will not be sold cheap. It is time we got our true worth.
What do we have to show for 60 years since independence?
I respect the history of our leaders. But respect does not mean silence when results are missing. For 60 years, Ukambani has produced senior government officials, vice presidents, and ministers.
Yet leave Nairobi and drive 30 minutes past our county headquarters, and you will find villages without water or electricity, children learning under trees, roads that turn to mud in the rains, and young and old everywhere with certificates but no jobs.
How does that happen? Because our votes have been used as bargaining chips for personal ambition, not for community development. We have been reliable to others, but others have not been reliable to us. That cycle ends now.
NLP is the change
The National Liberal Party (NLP) is building something different. We are not in Nairobi to beg for a seat at someone else’s table. We are building our own table.
Let me be clear: NLP will not automatically back William Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i, or Rigathi Gachagua. We will not be folded into coalitions that treat Ukambani as a bloc to be delivered and forgotten.
Our loyalty is to our members and, as their leader, to the people of Ukambani. If any leader or party wants our support in 2027, they must prove they are genuinely on the side of the people.
That means policy, not promises. Jobs, affordable living, and devolution that works. Not handouts, not ethnic arithmetic, not backroom deals.
Our worth is in our people
The true wealth of Ukambani is not in political negotiations in Nairobi. It is in our farmers, traders, teachers, youth, and elders.
NLP is recording rapid membership growth because Kenyans are tired of being used. As reported by The Star on May 7, 2026 and Capital FM on May 9, 2026, NLP’s position on the 2027 race has sparked national debate. People are hungry for a vehicle that speaks their language, defends their interests, and demands respect.
We aren’t asking for favors. We’re demanding partnership. Partnership means that when you come to Ukambani for votes, you leave with a plan, a timeline, and accountability mechanisms. Anything less is an insult.
A new chapter for Kenya
Kenya in 2027 will not be won by the party with the loudest slogans. It will be won by the side that earns the trust of the people. The center is alive. The voter is awake. And the Kamba nation will not be a spectator.
In 2022, the presidency was decided by just over 200,000 votes. With Mt Kenya slowly drifting away from the current administration, both sides now know they cannot win without Ukambani. Kalonzo Musyoka will be counting on the entire region to deliver him the presidency. William Ruto will be looking to us to shore up his numbers.
This is why the old politics of taking Akamba votes for granted is over. If our 2 million votes can decide the presidency, then our issues must decide the agenda.
So to those waiting for us to donate our votes cheaply: you are mistaken.
To the people of Ukambani: your vote is valuable. Your dignity is non-negotiable. Your future is worth fighting for.
It is time we got our true worth.
