Sombre mood as 14-year-old murdered by bandits is laid to rest in Mwingi

A sombre mood engulfed Kathungu village of Nguni, Mwingi central during the burial of Joseph Mutemi, a 14 year old pupil from Kathungu Primary school who was murdered by suspected camel herders two weeks ago.

Mutemi, the firstborn in a family of three was  collecting firewood when he met his brutal death.

Kitui leaders who attended the burial, led by Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua have demanded that Health CS Aden Duale drives out all camels from Kitui, since he personally admitted ownership of all camels in the Northeast region.

The leaders said Kitui will experience a lasting solution only after all camels are out of the county.

Scores of MCAs from Kitui led by the Speaker Kelvin  Kinengo who had attended the burial also weighed into the matter, demanding a lasting solution to the perennial cases of insecurity in Kîtui.

Joseph Mutemi was a grade 5 pupil from Kathungu Primary school  who was hacked to death two weeks ago by suspected camel herders a day after seven others were murdered by same herders at Kwa Kamari, Tseikuru, Mwingi North.
