Orengo declares Linda Mwananchi movement will form next government

Siaya Governor James Orengo has asserted that Kenya’s next administration will emerge from a growing grassroots push led by the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Addressing congregants during a church service in Nakuru ahead of a planned rally on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Orengo pointed to what he described as a shift in the country’s political direction, driven by ordinary citizens.

He argued that the electorate is increasingly determined to influence leadership outcomes in the next general election.

Orengo suggested that the current administration led by William Ruto is nearing the end of its political lifespan. He urged supporters to prepare for a new phase of mobilisation beginning mid-2026.

“I am asking you, from Nakuru, let us make this country ungovernable from June 2026… the next government in this country will be formed by the Linda Mwananchi,” Orengo told the gathering.

He further framed the political moment as urgent and divinely timed, stating, “When God’s time has come, there will be no delay, the hour has come and the hour is now.”

The governor expressed confidence in leaders aligned with the movement, including Babu Owino, Edwin Sifuna, Caleb Amisi, and Godfrey Osotsi, saying their collective strength would guarantee success.

“With such leadership, there is no battle we cannot win, we do not fear anything in this journey,” he added.

His remarks were echoed by Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who linked the movement’s vision to the legacy of Raila Odinga.

“The liberation of this country will come from Raila Odinga’s students,” Onyonka declared, drawing loud applause from the congregation.

The statements signal intensifying political activity as leaders position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle.
