Police in Garissa County have arrested a suspect believed to be linked to a series of violent robberies reported in Garissa Township.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) said the arrest followed investigations and intelligence gathering aimed at identifying individuals behind the recent incidents.

“Yesterday, these efforts yielded results when officers, acting on actionable intelligence, tracked down and arrested a suspect in Garissa County,” the NPS said.

According to the Service, the suspect had been wanted in connection with offences committed within Garissa Township and was taken into police custody following the operation.

The NPS said the suspect is expected to be presented before a court to face charges related to the alleged offences.

The arrest comes as security agencies intensify efforts to curb violent crime in the area and bring individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities to justice.

The police said the operation demonstrates their continued commitment to protecting residents and responding to security threats through investigations and intelligence-led operations.

“The National Police Service remains steadfast in its commitment to tackling crime, safeguarding the public, and ensuring that offenders are held fully accountable under the law,” the statement read.

The Service has also appealed to residents to work closely with law enforcement officers by providing information that could help investigators identify and apprehend other individuals involved in criminal activities.
