Rema wins first-ever Afrobeats award at 2023 MTV VMAs

Nigerian sensation Rema has etched his name in the records of music history, clinching the coveted title of Best Afrobeats Collaboration at the prestigious awards Gala.

His electrifying rendition of “Calm Down” remix alongside the globally acclaimed Selena Gomez sent shockwaves through the music world.

Rema’s hit song “Calm Down” recently joined the Billionaires club as it hit 1Billi on spotify streams.

Rema proves to the world that he is a force to be reckoned with and Afrobeat will take the world by storm.

Indeed, the glittering event unfolded in all its splendor last night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, where the crème de la crème of the top 40 music scene gathered.

Undoubtedly,Taylor Swift took the limelight this year, reigning supreme with a record-breaking nine MTV VMAs 2023 trophies adorning her shelf.

The stage came alive with an awe-inspiring lineup of performances that left the audience spellbound. Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, and Fall Out Boy, among other luminaries, graced the ceremony with their mesmerizing talents.

The master of ceremony for this star-studded award ceremony was none other than rap icon Nicki Minaj, who brought her signature flair and charisma to the Awards Gala.

In a year brimming with fierce competition, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, and Nicki Minaj stood tall as contenders for multiple accolades.
