Former Nairobi Governor and NEDP Party leader Mike Sonko is set for another high-profile appearance in the United Kingdom after receiving an invitation to attend the 4th Edition of the Global Leadership Investment Summit and Peace Awards (GLISPA UK 2026) at the House of Lords in the British Parliament on August 27 and 28, 2026.
The summit is expected to bring together influential leaders, policymakers, diplomats, philanthropists and development champions from across Africa and beyond to deliberate on peace-building, governance, leadership and sustainable development.
The invitation marks what would be Sonko’s second appearance at the prestigious House of Lords, following his participation in the 3rd Global Leadership Investment Summit and Peace Awards (GLISPA) held last year where he received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Governance from the American University of Peace and Governance, USA.
The honorary recognition was awarded in appreciation of his contributions to humanitarian work, social initiatives and human capital development, placing him among global personalities recognised for advancing social transformation and public service.
During last year’s summit, Sonko also participated in a joint panel discussion where he emphasized the importance of inclusive leadership and peace in driving sustainable development.
“True leadership is not measured by titles or positions, but by the impact we make on humanity,” Sonko said during the summit.
He further noted that leadership should be founded on compassion and service to society, saying public office should directly improve the lives of citizens.
This year’s invitation now places Sonko among a distinguished list of African and international leaders expected at the London gathering, reinforcing his growing visibility on global platforms associated with philanthropy and leadership.

Among the notable invitees are H.E. Capt. Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso; H.E. Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor, former Vice President of Liberia; Lord Shaun Bailey, Member of the UK House of Lords and Lord of Paddington; Prof. David Francis, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone; and H.E. Amb. Dr. Morris Monyeh, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Kenya will also have representation through Prof. Dhadho Godhana, Governor of Tana River County, who has also been invited to the global forum.
The annual GLISPA summit, organised by the UK chapter of the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), has continued to attract leaders and experts from different sectors to discuss global development priorities and strategies for peace and investment.
Sonko is expected to be recognised during this year’s edition for his humanitarian and philanthropic work, continuing a trend of international acknowledgement of his social outreach initiatives and support for vulnerable communities.
Registration for the summit is currently ongoing through the event organisers.
