What started as a lighthearted joke about marrying President William Ruto’s son, George Kimutai Ruto, as a ticket of “kutoka block” has turned into one of Kenya’s biggest social media sagas.
The drama has included TSC number requests, AI wedding photos, a mysterious knife emoji and now a wave of online hate, which content creator Priscilla Wanjiku Karanja, popularly known as Tr. Cillah, is handling with the same unbothered energy that made her go viral in the first place.
Rather than ignoring her posts, George Ruto actually engaged, asking for her Teachers Service Commission number in a reply that sent Kenyan social media into a frenzy.
“Ebu TSC number niconfirm kitu,” he wrote, and just like that, Tr. Cillah had all the fuel she needed.
She embraced the joke, calling herself “Mrs. GK” and imagining a big wedding with helicopter arrivals and flashy Nairobi nganyas.
She also shared AI-generated images of herself and George Ruto wearing matching Arsenal jerseys.
A section of social media users began sliding into Tr. Cillah’s direct messages (DMs) and comment sections with personal attacks questioning her appearance, her wardrobe, and her audacity to even joke about joining the First Family.
Despite the hate, tr. Cillah herself acknowledged, responding to one particularly sharp comment with characteristic lightness: “Wacheni nicheke, series mnataka ama hamtaki?”
Then came George’s latest twist, where he posted an Instagram story saying he had just returned to Nairobi from Kilgoris and did not know who Teacher Cillah was, despite previously tagging and interacting with her publicly.
“Ndio kurudi jiji, Kilgoris hakukuwa na network at @tr_cillah ni nani?” he posted alongside a teary emoji and a knife emoji.
George Ruto had travelled to Kilgoris, Narok County, over the weekend to attend his sister Charlene Ruto’s koito ceremony.
Kenyans were not buying the network excuse, given that Kilgoris had been buzzing with updates from his sister Charlene Ruto’s grand engagement to Tanzanian Isaya Yunge just days earlier.
“Kutoka Kilgoris, hakukuwa na network? Tumeona updates zote za sherehe, sasa usituambie network ndiyo ilikataa tweet,” one user wrote. Others were more blunt: “George anacheza rough buana,” “Panga ishalia,” and “Dust delayed” were among the more printable reactions.
Tr. Cillah, however, responded on her IG stories, jokingly asking if George now wanted them to formally introduce themselves, before posting a video explaining what she believed his message meant.
The detail that caught her eye was the knife emoji.
“That is the exact kind of knife that he wants to cut our cake,” she declared, adding that she and George would hold hands as they made the ceremonial cut at their future wedding.
She even put out an appeal to knife vendors to help her track down a similar one, insisting it was exactly what the occasion called for.
George Ruto later responded to Tr. Cillah in her comment section, telling her that “delulu is the solulu.”
“Delulu is the only solulu Mwalimu,” he wrote, chasing it with laughing emojis.
Responding to one of the negative comments on Tr. Cillah’s timeline, George also hinted at a possible continuation of their online saga, writing, “Season 2……”
