Three more suspects linked to the recent armed robbery at a restaurant in Nairobi’s Spring Valley area have been arrested following a police operation in Githurai, Kiambu County.
According to a statement posted by the National Police Service (NPS) on its official X account, officers conducted an operation in Githurai Mwiki that resulted in the arrest of the three suspects, who are believed to be part of a criminal network responsible for a series of robberies within Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
The NPS said the suspects attempted to flee when officers moved in, but they were successfully apprehended.
“A subsequent search at a residence in Githurai Kimbo associated with the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms, each loaded with ammunition,” the police said.
Preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to the armed robbery that was captured on CCTV footage, showing gun-wielding assailants robbing members of the public at a popular restaurant along General Mathenge Road in Spring Valley before escaping on motorcycles.
Police said Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) officers processed the scene, while the recovered firearms and other exhibits were secured for forensic examination to support ongoing investigations.
The three suspects remain in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations and further legal action.
Reaffirming its resolve to combat violent crime, the National Police Service said it remains committed to dismantling criminal networks across the country.
“The National Police Service reaffirms its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring that all those involved in crimes face the full force of the law,” the statement read.
The service also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities through the nearest police station, the toll-free emergency numbers, or its anonymous reporting channels.
The arrests mark the latest breakthrough in investigations into the high-profile Spring Valley robbery as detectives continue pursuing other suspects believed to have participated in the attack.
