Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery of KSh 169,000 from an M-Pesa shop attendant in Katangi, Yatta Sub-County, Machakos County, on May 15, 2026.
The arrests followed a coordinated police operation after a tip-off from members of the public.
Acting on the tip, officers from Katangi moved swiftly and arrested the first suspect, Ben Mutuku, at Katangi Shopping Centre.
The operation then widened to Yathui in Mwala Sub-County, where two more suspects, Simon Makau and Samuel Mbolu, were cornered and arrested while travelling in a white Toyota Corolla, registration KDU 164G.
An M-Pesa till phone stolen during the robbery was also recovered during the operation and was positively identified by the M-Pesa attendant.
All three suspects are in police custody undergoing processing ahead of arraignment, while the impounded vehicle and recovered phone have been secured as exhibits as investigations continue.
