Three suspects linked to attack on Linda Mwananchi convoy in Keumbu arrested

Police in Kisii County have arrested three suspects linked to the violent attack on a Linda Mwananchi convoy on Friday, July 3 in Keumbu, along the Kisii-Keroka Road.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) say officers from Keumbu Police Station acted on credible intelligence to launch a targeted operation that culminated in the arrest of the suspects.

Allan Masese Onyambu, Godffrey Bosire Mokaya and Stanley Okeyo are currently in police custody undergoing processing, pending arraignment.

“Investigations are ongoing as detectives pursue additional suspects believed to have participated in the incident,” the NPS says.

The Inspector General of the National Police Service (IG-NPS) has since directed the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) to expedite its assessment of all aspects of the violence, identify any operational gaps that may have contributed to the incident, and take appropriate action within the broader context of the attack.

IAU officers are already on the ground in the affected area.

The NPS is further appealling for the public’s continued support and encourages anyone with information relating to this incident to share it patriotically with the nearest police station, or via the toll-free numbers 999, 911, ог 0800 722 203 (FichuakwaDCI), or through WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.

“As a Service, we remain committed to protecting the public, investigating all cases to their logical conclusion, and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.”
