Transmara: Police arrest prison officer linked to the murder of his two colleagues

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a retired prison officer from Transmara, Narok County who allegedly set up his two colleagues for murder related to a loan dispute.

The suspect, identified as Pius Lemiso Ndiwa alias Shonimeu was on the run, living with animals in the Maasai Mara National Park where he was caught at 11 pm on March 19, 2024.

The deceased prison officers who were  identified as Patrick Mukunyi Kuya and Senior sergent Daniel Nairimo had travelled from Nairobi to Narok as they were invited to settle a Sacco-related matter with Ndiwa.

Upon the pair arriving at Ndiwa’s residence in Mentinkuar, the suspect informed his family that the two officers were criminals, prompting his sons to attack them with arrows and machetes.

The suspect is believed to have defaulted on a loan and subsequently relocated from the city to reside in the countryside.

“We arrived at the scene and we found two bodies badly mutilated, one had three arrows lodged on his back and the other had deep cuts on his back,” Kilgoris OCPD Jamleck Ngaruiya said then.

The two prison officers were in civilian attire when they were killed during the attack.
