Man kills colleague while fighting over a beautiful barmaid

Police in Mayuge District, Uganda have arrested a man who allegedly beat his colleague to death while fighting over a barmaid in Kikubo village.

According to the Daily Monitor report, the incident was confirmed by Busoga East Police Spokesperson Diana Nandaula, who identified the deceased as Edirisa Wabwire.

“We got information that the suspect, who is being held at Mayuge Central Police Station, boxed Wabwire on the head, leading to his death,” said the police spokesperson on March 19, 2024.

She added that police arrived at the bar, which was a crime scene and removed the body to Mayuge Health Centre mortuary.

Nandaula explained that police have launched investigations into the murder incident, as they prepare to arraign the suspect in court.

Meanwhile, Ali Wabwire, the father of the deceased, has called on the police to speed up investigations and ensure justice prevails.

“I want to appeal to the judiciary for fair judgement and to the government for financial help to enable a decent burial for my son,” he said.

On the other hand, the bar owner, Twaha Ikoba, stated that the suspect might have killed his colleague due to drug abuse.

“These people acted under the influence of drugs because what I sell in the bar cannot make customers go wild to the extent of killing one another,” Ikoba stated.

However, police warned residents to be careful during their leisure time at bars and other entertainment places to avoid similar incidents in future.
