Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has arrived in Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya at the 2nd Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), attending on behalf of President William Ruto.
“Arrived in Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya during the 2nd Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) on behalf of President William Ruto,” Kindiki said in a post on his X platform.
The summit brings together regional leaders and representatives to deliberate on the African Union’s stabilisation efforts in Somalia.
It covers the security situation on the ground, the mission’s operations and financing, and the broader question of Somalia’s long-term security transition.
Kenya is among the countries contributing troops to the AUSSOM mission, making its representation at the summit significant, as member states chart the way forward for the operation.
