Hey everyone, just to share: I've been Ketogenic for over 3 years now and it's been the best health decision I've ever made. Yeah I lost almost 40 pounds but more importantly my mental clarity and speed is much improved.
By the way many of the things she says are negative never happened to me and I even learned how to help people AVOID those things "keto flu" symptoms.
Lastly, I FREQUENTLY go to 3+ mmol/l (even 7.6 on my highest!) And I've been totally fine.
Ketoacidosis is a condition that mainly Type ONE diabetics have to watch out for: your body is ENERGY starved and INSULIN RESISTANCE meets HYPER GLYCEMIA.. what this means is you have HIGH KETONES AND HIGH BLOOD SUGAR.
we're talking ketones 10+ mmol AND Blood glucose in the HUNDREDS. your cells can't use Glucose (insulin isn't working) and starts pumping out ketones which is the body's primary energy source after you burn the 2,000 calories stored glucose humans have 👍
Keto is great and there's many many ways to do it, so much of what she's saying is to harsh and strict, you don't need to do it that way… You can even have carb "refeed" days.
LASTLY… KETOSIS is a Metabolic State. Period. And it's achieved PRIMARILY through carb restriction. By the way I know Type 1 diabetics who improve their insulin function and need LESS units… Go youtube Search Ashley Salvatore who had 3 babies doing keto and breastfed and everything.
Watching this video, she had good things to say, but damn she was too fanatical and TOTALITARIAN on many points… That's NOT how it needs to be.
