Police officers have arrested two suspects and seized a combined 280 litres of illicit alcohol in separate but coordinated operations in Tharaka Nithi and Machakos Counties, as the crackdown on illegal brews continues to gain momentum across the country.
In Tharaka Nithi, a suspect was arrested after being found in possession of 180 litres of an illicit brew locally known as “Muna.”
A similar operation in Machakos County led to the arrest of another suspect found with 100 litres of illicit brew. Both suspects are in police custody pending further action.
The operations were carried out jointly by the National Police Service and National Government Administration Officers as part of ongoing coordinated efforts to disrupt the production, possession, and distribution of unlawful alcoholic beverages and protect communities from the health risks associated with unregulated alcohol.
