When Speaker Moses Wetangula donated KSh5.3M to a school in Tigania West

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Sunday, September 3 donated KSh5.3 million for the infrastructural development of K.K Tharaine Junior Secondary School, in Tigania West.

The function was hosted by area MP John Mutunga, whom Wetangula describes as a friend.

Wetangula says that the donation is meant to give the school a facelift as well as lay the foundation for the establishment of a Junior Secondary School.

Seven-kilometre walk

“The need to start this school was a necessity dictated by the arduous seven-kilometer distance that the children had to walk to the nearest institution,” he said, adding, “In doing so, we aim to significantly reduce the geographical barrier to accessing education, recognizing education’s pivotal role as a cornerstone in the holistic development of a society.”

In his address, Wetangula reiterated the sentiments of President William Ruto in fighting then cancer that is corruption in the country.

“Our collective responsibility is to confront corruption wherever it rears its insidious head. Those who shield and defend corrupt practices are, without question, adversaries to the wellbeing and prosperity of the Kenyan people,” he added.

Wetangula was accompanied by Principal Secretary Patrick Kilemi, as well as MPs Martin Pepela (Webuye), Dorothy Ikiara (Meru), Moses Kirima (Imenti Central), Dan Kile (Igembe Central), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Njeru Njoki (Embu), among others.
