Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said it takes more to run for presidency and win, and those who think they can beat President William Ruto easily will be surprised by the realities on the ground.
Speaking when he unveiled the Sikhendu Secondary School Classroom Block in Kiminini Constituency, Trans Nzoia County, Mudavadi told those in the opposition that winning the presidency is not a walk in the park.
“Those who think they will beat President Ruto should better think twice, winning Presidency is not easy. President Ruto has done alot for the county and his re-election is guaranteed by his popularity,” said Mudavadi.
He urged the people of Trans Nzoia to vote for President Ruto overwhelmingly, so that the first in command can command an unassailable lead that will discourage anyone from petitioning the election results.
“Kenya had Presidential elections petitions from 2013 to 2022, but the 2027 will be different and unique, we want the victory to stand out,” said Mudavadi.
On the regional politics, Mudavadi said United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party will field candidates in all the elective seats across all the Western Region counties.
“We encourage many aspirants to join and run on a UDA ticket. We will support those who will win the primaries, we will support them,” said Mudavadi.
He said even President Ruto, former Prime Minister the late Raila Odinga Ruto, and himself went into a nomination for 2007 general elections.
“When the late Raila won the nomination, we went ahead to support him strongly. In 2026, we will have a free and fair nominations in UDA and we will support those who win,” added Mudavadi.
Mudavadi said priority number one is to make President Ruto re-elected and will not jostle for positions including number two.
“I don’t want to be number two and be seen to be jostling for the sake of it. My effort is to ensure President wins. At the right time I want to be number one.”
He said the opposition were riding on a wave that was build on quick sand. “I told you in 2022 that President Ruto will win reelection, I can tell you without any fear or doubt that the Head of State will win his re-election. One can take it to the bank.”
