2025 Prescott Cup: When and where to watch Kenya’s premier high school rugby competition

The 2025 Prescott Cup, Kenya’s premier high school rugby competition, kicks off this week on Wednesday, May 21, running through to the finals on June 21. The tournament features a boys’ competition divided into four regions—Nairobi, Western, Rift Valley, and Coast—and a separate girls’ competition for the Nairobi region.

Boys’ competition format and qualification

  • Nairobi Region: The competition is split into two pools.
    • Pool A: Upper Hill, Strathmore School, Mangu High, Lenana School
    • Pool B: Rift Valley Academy, Alliance High, Githiga High, Dawamu School
The top three teams from Nairobi will qualify for the national finals.
  • Western Region: A home-and-away round-robin format involving Butula Boys, Kisii School, and St Mary’s Yala. The top two teams advance.
  • Rift Valley Region: Also a home-and-away round-robin featuring St Patrick’s Iten, St Anthony’s Kitale, and Kabianga High. The top two qualify.
  • Coast Region: With only one representative, the Coast champion automatically qualifies for the nationals.

This structure yields eight teams for the national finals: three from Nairobi, two each from Western and Rift Valley, and one from Coast.

Nairobi Girls’ Prescott Cup

The girls’ competition features four Nairobi schools—Nova Pioneer, St Teresa Girls Kithimu, Rift Valley Academy, and Kinale Girls. Each team plays the others once, with final standings determining the champion.
