AFC Leopards lose to APS Bomet to hand Gor Mahia their 22nd league crown

Gor Mahia FC are the 2025/26 FKF Premier League champions after rivals AFC Leopards lost 2-1 to APS Bomet FC at Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday.

K’Ogalo sealed the title without playing after the result ended AFC Leopards’ hopes of catching the league leaders with only two matches remaining in the season.

A second-half double from Philip Wasai handed APS Bomet victory in a crucial encounter that decided the destination of the league crown.

The defeat left Leopards unable to match Gor Mahia’s 68-point tally, with Ingwe having played a game more than the champions.

Gor Mahia’s scheduled fixture against Mara Sugar FC was postponed following a venue dispute that was taken before the Sports Disputes Tribunal.

The league triumph marks Gor Mahia’s 22nd top-flight title, extending their record as Kenya’s most successful football club.

The title also secures the club’s return to the CAF Champions League after missing out last season when Kenya Police FC won the league.

For AFC Leopards, the defeat extends their wait for a league title, with their last championship coming in 1998 despite mounting a strong challenge this season.
