Activist-turned-politician Boniface Mwangi has been elected as the new party leader of Ukweli Party following the party’s National Delegates Conference held in Nairobi on Friday, June 12, 2026.

In a statement shared on his X account on 13th June 2026, Mwangi said delegates from across the country travelled to Nairobi to participate in the democratic exercise.

“Yesterday, I was elected as the party leader of Ukweli Party by our party members, who travelled from all over Kenya to take part in our National Delegates Conference in Nairobi,” he wrote.

Mwangi described his victory as a collective achievement rather than a personal milestone, saying it reflected the aspirations of Kenyans seeking change.

“This victory is not about one individual. It is about all of us who believe Kenya deserves better,” he stated.

The former activist said the party aims to create an inclusive political movement that serves all citizens regardless of their background or political affiliation.

“We now have the opportunity to build a party that listens, that includes, and that works for every Kenyan — regardless of where they come from, what they believe, or who they voted for in the past,” he said.

Mwangi added that the focus now shifts to strengthening the party’s structures and promoting values-driven leadership.

“The work begins now. We must build strong structures, nurture principled leadership, and restore faith in politics as a force for public service,” he noted.

He also expressed gratitude to delegates who participated in the conference and entrusted him with the leadership role.

“Thank you to every delegate who participated in this democratic process. Thank you for your trust,” Mwangi said.

Concluding his message, the newly elected party leader declared, “Let’s build a party that works for all Kenyans. The journey to liberate our nation continues.”
