Building leaders, Drive to Inspire Africa celebrates March-May cohort

Drive to Inspire Africa marked a powerful milestone as it hosted its community engagement and graduation event, celebrating the achievements of the March–May 2026 cohort.

The gathering brought together mentors, mentees, and volunteers in a vibrant atmosphere that underscored the organisation’s mission of nurturing leadership and resilience among young people.

A total of 25 mentees proudly received certificates of completion after successfully undertaking the mentorship programme. The Kenyan chapter now comprises 75 mentors and mentees, a growing community dedicated to fostering personal growth and professional success.

Reflections from the graduates painted a picture of transformation. Many spoke of newfound confidence, sharpened skills, and a renewed belief in their ability to pursue ambitious goals.

One participant shared how mentorship directly opened doors to an internship opportunity, saying: “The guidance and coaching I received gave me the courage to step into opportunities I never imagined possible.”

Woedem Afua Parku, Lead in Research at Drive to Inspire Africa, praised the dedication of both mentors and mentees, noting the organisation’s commitment to sustainable impact.

“It is the deep sense of fulfillment at helping young people in navigating complex problems around academics, career and personal development that keeps the community thriving,” she said.

Beyond the graduation, the event served as a platform for reconnection and collaboration. Attendees strengthened bonds within the volunteer community and discussed strategies to expand the organisation’s footprint in Kenya. Plans include transitioning selected mentees into mentor roles, ensuring continuity and multiplying the programme’s impact.

Founded in Ghana, Drive to Inspire Africa has steadily expanded across the continent, with Kenya emerging as a hub of innovation and volunteerism. The organisation remains committed to strengthening its volunteer network, fostering meaningful mentor-mentee relationships, and exploring new pathways for creating lasting impact.

As certificates were handed out and applause filled the room, the event symbolized more than achievement it embodied hope, resilience, and the promise of a new generation of leaders ready to shape Kenya’s future.
