Cape Media, the parent company of TV 47, Radio 47 and Cape Studios has appointed Creative Director June Akinyi Ndinya as acting Chief Executive Officer and Managing Editor Keneth Kadzomba Kazungu as acting Editor-in-Chief. The appointment follows the exit of their predecessors.
In an internal memo dated October 10, 2026, the Board of Directors announced the changes, saying the appointments would take effect immediately as the company begins the process of recruiting substantive office holders.
Ndinya takes over as acting CEO following the exit of Mwenda Njoka MBS, who previously served as the company’s chief executive.
According to the board, Ndinya’s appointment was informed by her experience, leadership capabilities, understanding of the media industry and knowledge of Cape Media’s strategic direction.
She will provide overall leadership and oversee the company’s day-to-day operations during the transition period.
The board said the acting CEO would work closely with the management team and staff to ensure continuity of operations, implement the company’s strategic priorities and maintain service delivery to audiences, clients, partners and other stakeholders.
In a separate appointment, Managing Editor Keneth Kadzomba Kazungu has been named acting Editor-in-Chief following the exit of Simon Macharia Gachuru, who previously held the position.
Kazungu will serve in an acting capacity until the recruitment of a substantive office holder is completed.
Kazungu brings extensive experience in journalism and editorial leadership and will oversee the company’s editorial operations.
In his new role, Kazungu will be responsible for ensuring that Cape Media’s journalism upholds standards of accuracy, fairness, balance, integrity and accountability. He will also be expected to safeguard the credibility and reputation of the company’s brand during the leadership transition.
The board expressed confidence that Kazungu’s experience and knowledge of the media environment would provide stability in the company’s editorial operations.
The board also thanked Njoka for his contribution and leadership during his tenure as CEO, noting that he had helped guide the company through a period of significant growth in Kenya’s media industry.
Gachuru was similarly recognised for his contribution to the development of Cape Media’s editorial assets. The board wished both outgoing executives well in their future endeavours.
In the memo signed by Board of Directors representative Dr Farida Karoney, EGH, the company reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and well-governed transition process.
The board said the changes were intended to safeguard the company’s interests while maintaining its strategic direction and commitment to excellence in journalism and media services.
The appointments come as Cape Media prepares to recruit substantive replacements for the two senior positions.
