The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has provided an update on the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari, who was killed on the night of Sunday, May 3, 2026, at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County, revealing that detectives have firmly linked the crime to a notorious criminal gang.
In a statement dated May 12, 2026, the DCI said sustained forensic and intelligence-driven investigations have connected the murder to a gang that was first profiled in July 2022.
The gang is known for carrying out violent armed robberies while disguised in security forces attire and using an L1A1 firearm, which was recovered by police in 2024.
The same gang has also been linked to a violent robbery on the night of May 1, 2026, just two days before the cleric’s murder, during which Sh600,000 was transferred from a victim’s bank account to mobile numbers associated with the group.
Detectives are further investigating a pattern of violent attacks and robberies across Nakuru County and its surroundings, with the same gang suspected to be behind several of the incidents.
Advanced forensic examinations, including scientific analysis to place suspects at the crime scene, are still ongoing as investigators work to build a solid case for prosecution.
The DCI urged members of the public with any information to report to the nearest police station.
