Motorists will get some relief at the pump from August 15, 2026, after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) cut the price of diesel by KSh5 per litre, while Super Petrol and Kerosene prices remain unchanged.

In Nairobi, diesel will now retail at KSh 217.86 per litre, down from KSh 222.86. Super Petrol will remain at KSh 214.03 per litre, while kerosene will retail at KSh 191.38.

In a press release dated August 14, 2026, EPRA announced the new maximum retail prices that will remain in force until September 14, 2026, in accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022.

EPRA said the government has provided KSh 938 million in fuel stabilisation support to prevent Super Petrol and kerosene prices from rising, despite movements in international markets.

The reduction in diesel prices follows a 13.08 per cent drop in its landed cost, between June and July 2026.

However, the landed cost of Super Petrol rose by 6.99 per cent, while that of kerosene fell by 11.01 per cent during the same period.

All prices are inclusive of VAT and have been computed in line with the VAT Act 2013, the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws Amendment Act 2024, and revised excise duty rates under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
