Empowering youth through digital innovation (DigiTrucks)

Kenyan and Tanzania youths will continue to benefit from free mobile Digital labs (DigiTrucks) Commisioned on Monday, June 22 under the umbrella of Regional teachers ‘iniciative for Africa -RTIA.

The digital innovation for education scalling project will benefit youths from the two countries, kenya having the first slot launched earlier with over 10,000 youths already enrolled while Tanzania will be the next beneficiary after launch of 3 digitruck recieved by the Tanzania Ambassador to kenya Dr Benard Yohana kibese in Syokimau area.

The DigiTruck consist of self sustainable classroom, equiped with high capacity lithium -ion batteries and solar panels to accommodate over 20 youths at a time in remote areas, a move that will enhance easy internet connectivity to youths seeking employent through digital platforms .

Baron Olivier Vanden Eynde, the CEO and Founder of Close the Gap, noted the move is aimed at providing vulnarable populations across East Africa with essential skills for modern labor market through digital platforms with 21 truck already on the move.

Ester Mwongeli Njoki, the digital project cordinator, said they are already working with 12 lower secondary schools in Tanzania, while in Kenya, the program has empowered over 10,000 youths.
