“God has watched over us” – First Lady Rachel Ruto’s message to elected leaders as Kenya Kwanza marks one year in power

President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration is marking one year in office.

Kenya’s 5th president was sworn in at Kasarani Stadium in September 13, 2022, promising to turn around the country’s “dilapidated” economy.

First Lady Rachel Ruto is also celebrating one year in the office, hosting a thanksgiving dinner at Uhuru Gardens on Wednesday, September 13 evening “to give thanks to God.”

“We gathered tonight at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi to give thanks for the blessings the Lord has bestowed on us in this first year of this administration. The last year has been challenging, but God has watched over us,” she said.

While quoting the holy writ, Rachel was grateful to God for what he has done for the country in the past one year.

“We are most grateful to the Most High God for what He has done; it is indeed marvellous in our eyes. As a people, we choose to be counted with the one ‘leper’ that came back to Jesus to say thank you. (Luke 17:15) We are grateful to God!”

She called upon all the elected leaders to go back to the grassroots and serve the people.

Among those who attended the gathering include; Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and Senator Veronica Maina.
