“Kenyans have a right to know” – Gachagua calls out Ruto government over Ebola secrecy

The United Alternative Government has demanded full public disclosure of all agreements, protocols, and arrangements entered into by the Ruto administration regarding the Ebola situation.

They accused the government of choosing secrecy and half-truths over transparency on a matter of grave national importance.

In a statement issued on June 3, 2026, and signed by Kalonzo Musyoka, the coalition said the public uproar surrounding the government’s handling of the Ebola situation was entirely of the administration’s own making.

“Instead of providing timely information, consulting stakeholders, and reassuring the public, this Ruto regime has chosen secrecy, half-truths, and arrogance. As a result, Kenyans are left with more questions than answers regarding the reported agreements, protocols, and arrangements entered into by the Government and their potential implications for public health, public safety, and national preparedness,” the statement noted.

The UAG called for the immediate publication of all Ebola-related documentation, stating that it is the right of every Kenyan to know.

“Kenyans have a right to know what their government is doing in their name,” read part of the statement.

The coalition further argued that any arrangement involving one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases must be subjected to the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and public scrutiny.

They described the protection of public health as a constitutional obligation and a matter of national security.

The statement also highlighted what the coalition described as a deeply troubling contradiction at the heart of the government’s position.

“A Government that cannot adequately equip public hospitals, guarantee the availability of essential medicines, or address the chronic challenges facing our healthcare system, now expects Kenyans to blindly trust its assurances on a matter of such grave national importance,” it noted.

The UAG concluded its statement on Ebola by questioning the government’s credibility and preparedness.

“Trust is the currency of leadership, and transparency is the foundation upon which that trust is built. This regime has failed both tests,” the statement noted.
