KFCB demands the removal of Embarambamba content

The Kenya Films and Classification board (KFCB) has demanded the removal of what it terms as inappropriate audio-visual content belonging to controversial gospel singer Embarambamba and two other individuals.

The board has called for the content to be pulled down from all online streaming services.

According to KFCB, action will be taken against Bishop Johanna, Embarambamba and William Getumbe if they fail to comply with the directive.

“A demand letter has been issued to Embrambamba and Getumbe to remove any inappropriate content from their various platforms. Failure to comply will result in legal action in accordance with the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya,” the order read in part.

Getumbe has been the talk of town with his controversial blasphemous song while Bishop Johanna has left tongues wagging after his stunt with a woman with whom he was touching inappropriately in the name of deliverance.

KFCB at the same time warned content creators that even though the constitution offers the freedom of creativity and expression it should not be misconstrued as absolute.

The board also advised parents to ensure that they monitor the type of content their children are exposed to as they break for mid-term.
