A section of business people in Malindi Town, Kilifi County have called on the police and Safaricom Mpesa to help them arrest a business lady who conned them KSh.10 million shillings in transactions.
The ten business people led by Abdulkarim Alhamudi and Ms Twaif Mohamed alleged that Ms Rahma Seif Albusaid, a Safaricom Mpesa agent had swindled them the amount between August and September this year after receiving money to deposit as float.
Alhamudi said that they had reported the matter to the police three weeks ago but there was laxity in identifying and arresting the culprit hence she called on Safaricom Mpesa to help track the suspect since she had switched off her phone.
“This is the third week we are visiting the police station but we have not received any help in apprehending the suspect. We are calling on Safaricom Mpesa to help us track her so that we can recover our money,” he said.
Ms Twaif said that he visited the Malindi police station to report the matter and was shocked to find that he was not the only complainant and called for speedy investigations.
“Already we have reported the matter and we have OB numbers and we are calling on the police to act with speed and help us find this person. I just learnt that some of us lost more than Sh. 1.2 million, others between Sh. 600,000 and Sh. 1 million,” he said.
Malindi Sub County Police Commander Moses Kosgei confirmed on phone that the police had received several complaints and that the suspect was still at large but his officers were pursuing links to arrest her.
