Matiang’i condemns goonism in Nairobi after being endorsed by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru

Jubilee Party Leader and Presidential aspirant Dr. Fred Matiang’i has been officially endorsed by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru of Jesus Is Alive Ministries, as he firmly condemns systematic goonism in Nairobi, calling for discipline, order, and effective leadership in the country.

Matiang’i attended a Sunday worship at Jesus Is Alive Ministries Church, hosted by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, accompanied by Kitutu Chache South MP Hon. Anthony Kibagendi, Kitutu Masaba MP Hon. Clive Gisairo, former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, former Borabu MP Hon. Ben Momanyi, alongside other leaders.

Speaking during the gathering, Dr. Matiang’i strongly condemned the disruption of meetings and places of worship, maintaining that Kenya is a democratic and free country where every citizen has the freedom to worship and participate in public gatherings without interference.

“You know, I strongly believe in discipline and order. The behaviour you see here, some of which has been engineered by Nairobi leaders, is the kind of nonsense I personally would not want to deal with,” he said.

Dr. Matiang’i questioned the conduct of those who disrupt other people’s meetings, saying such behaviour reflects a failure of leadership and must not be allowed to continue.

“People who engage in such behaviour are those who have failed in their own work, and now their job is to go and disrupt other people’s meetings.”

“The church must be respected. This country needs firm and strong leadership that upholds the law and ensures that things are done truthfully and as they should be.”

The Jubilee Party Leader maintained that Kenya cannot allow such acts to continue, insisting that every citizen deserves the freedom to do what they want within the law.

“We cannot allow such things in our country because we want a free nation where every citizen has the opportunity to do what they want.

“We have a Constitution in this country. That is why some of us have stepped forward because we want to contribute to the direction our country takes. We want to lead this country, and if we are given the opportunity to lead, we will not allow such behaviour because we believe in discipline in our country,” Dr. Matiang’i stated.

He further condemned the alleged involvement of goons paid by political leaders to interfere with places of worship, warning that such behaviour undermines security, freedom, and the democratic principles of the country.

Dr. Matiang’i linked the security challenges in Nairobi, including the disruption of public meetings and gatherings, to what he described as bad leadership, calling for a change in the country’s leadership.

“If these security problems in Nairobi, including goons interfering with public meetings and gatherings, are a result of bad leadership, then that is the leadership we need to change.

“I am confident that, together with you, the citizens, and with opposition leaders united in one voice, we will transform our country and establish meaningful leadership,” he said.

Calling for a new direction for Kenya, the Jubilee Party Leader emphasized that the country deserves better leadership founded on discipline, order, and effective management.

“We are better than this, and we can do better than this. We are a better people as a country, and we do not deserve this. We need discipline, order, and a very effective way of managing our country.”

Addressing Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Dr. Matiang’i urged her to remain firm and continue working with him and other opposition leaders towards uniting the country and bringing meaningful change.

“Bishop, do not turn back or lose heart. I have returned because I began this journey with my colleagues in the opposition. Let us continue uniting and bringing our country together.

“I will work together with you, Bishop. Show me the way forward in Nairobi so that we can do meaningful work and bring change, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.”

The endorsement by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru marks a significant moment in Dr. Matiang’i’s political engagements in Nairobi, as he continues to call for united opposition leadership and a country governed by discipline, respect for the law, security, and the freedom of every Kenyan.

Dr. Matiang’i maintained that Kenya is capable of doing better and that the country deserves leadership that protects its people, respects places of worship, and does not tolerate political interference in the freedom of citizens.
