A Member of the Kisii County Assembly (MCA) representing Ichuni Ward, Wycliffe Siocha, was on Thursday, June 4 allegedly assaulted by unknown individuals in Kisii Town.
According to reports, the MCA was at a local garage repairing his vehicle when he was attacked by the assailants under circumstances that remain unclear.
Following the incident, Siocha sought medical treatment at Hema Hospital in Kisii Town.
Speaking to the media outside the hospital, former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu condemned the attack, describing it as politically motivated.
Machogu alleged that the assault was linked to Siocha’s recent declaration of support for Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
Machogu called on security agencies to act swiftly, giving them a 12-hour ultimatum to arrest those responsible and arraign them in court.
The incident comes amid growing political challenges facing the MCA. Masimba Ward MCA Bouse Mairura noted that Siocha, popularly known as “Embande”, was recently dewhipped from several county assembly committees.
Meanwhile, Bassi Boitangare MCA Thomas Obare appealed to Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo to intervene and ensure thorough investigations into the matter.
