A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters caused a brief stir during the late Raila Odinga’s first anniversary memorial celebrations at Migwena Sports Grounds in Bondo, Siaya County, chanting and demanding to know the whereabouts of party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga.
Dr. Oburu, who is also the Siaya County Senator, was conspicuously absent as thousands gathered at the historic grounds to commemorate the late former Prime Minister.
The chants broke out among attendees waving ODM banners and wearing party colors, interrupting scheduled addresses as supporters demanded an explanation for his absence.
Event organizers and security officers moved to restore calm, allowing the memorial service and political speeches to proceed.
Party officials present urged unity among members, maintaining that the focus of the event remained honoring the former Prime Minister’s legacy.
