Over 180 IDs recovered as police arrest two hardcore gangsters in Teso South; teargas canister, military boots also seized

Police in Teso South, Busia County, have arrested two suspected members of a criminal gang that has been terrorising residents, and recovered 180 National Identification Cards (IDs).

Francis Okoside aka Franco and Douglas Barasa aka Dady Okangu were arrested during a targeted operation geared towards dismantling criminal gangs in the region.

A search that was conducted at Okoside’s residence, in the presence of his family, led to the discovery of IDs, alonside a tear gas canister, a heavy metal road, eight metal bars believed to be used for house-breakings.

Also recovered were two pairs of military boots, five mobile phones and other items believed to be stolen property.

All recovered items have been secured as exhibits, while the two suspects remain in custody as processing continues ahead of their arraignment.

The operation is ongoing, with detectives actively pursuing additional leads to unearth the full scope of the suspects’ criminal endeavours and identify other individuals who may be part of the suspected criminal network.
