Police have arrested three suspects in separate operations targeting illicit brews and narcotics in Tharaka Nithi and Garissa counties.
The National Police Service said the raids are part of an ongoing nationwide operation aimed at curbing the distribution and possession of illicit substances.
In Tharaka Nithi County, officers from Kajuki Police Post, working together with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), carried out a raid in Nkungani Village.
Two suspects were arrested during the operation, with police recovering 160 litres of an illicit brew locally known as Mugacha.
The recovered brew was taken into police custody as an exhibit as investigations continue.
In a separate operation in Garissa County, officers from Iftin Police Station raided an area in Ziwani Village following what police described as actionable intelligence.
The operation led to the arrest of one suspect who was allegedly found with 39 packages of suspected cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang.
The suspected narcotics were also secured as exhibits, with the suspect remaining in police custody as they await arraignment in court.
The National Police Service said the latest operations demonstrate its continued efforts to tackle the drug menace through cooperation between security agencies and members of the public.
“In an ongoing nationwide operation against illicit brews and narcotics,” the NPS said, officers conducted targeted raids in the two counties, resulting in the arrests and recoveries.
The service also acknowledged the role of the public in helping security agencies identify and disrupt suspected criminal activities.
The NPS urged members of the public to report suspicious or criminal activity to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 999 and 911.

The suspects are expected to face court proceedings as police continue handling the recovered substances as exhibits.
