Police officers in Kisumu County have destroyed more than 1,000 litres of illicit brew during a crackdown targeting illegal alcohol dens in Muhoroni, Kisumu County.
The operation was conducted by officers from Miwani Police Station and Kibos Police Post alongside National Government Administrative Officers in Kasiaya Village, Obumba Sub-Location.
According to police, the raid targeted illegal brewing sites concealed along streams and inside plantations within the area.
During the operation, officers dismantled two suspected illicit alcohol manufacturing sites and destroyed over 1,000 litres of kangara.
Police also confiscated and destroyed fermentation drums and jerrycans believed to have been used in the production of the illegal brew.
The National Police Service said the crackdown forms part of ongoing efforts to curb the manufacture and sale of illicit alcohol and drugs across the country.
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to eliminating the production and consumption of illicit alcohol and drugs nationwide,” police said in a statement.
Authorities have urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activities through police stations and official reporting channels.
