Police officers attached to Mairoinya Police Station in Nyandarua North Sub-County on Monday, May 18, 2026, arrested one suspect and confiscated a significant amount of narcotics during an ongoing operation targeting illicit alcohol and drug trafficking.

The crackdown, which focused on the Nyahururu stage area in Mairoinya Town, led to the interception of the suspect by officers conducting the raid.

A search carried out on the individual resulted in the recovery of 850 rolls of cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang.

Police also recovered an additional 1,000 grams of unrolled cannabis sativa during the operation.

The suspect was later escorted to Mairoinya Police Station, where he remains in custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court.

The seized narcotics were secured and preserved as exhibits.

The National Police Service (NPS) has reiterated its commitment to sustaining nationwide operations aimed at curbing the production, supply, and use of illicit brews and narcotic substances.
