A ranking attributed to TIFA Research has placed Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru at the top of a list of 10 governors, followed by Kericho Governor Eric Mutai and Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata.
Waiguru ranks top in the ranking, with her administration having overseen the upgrading of Kerugoya Level Five Hospital and the construction of new dispensaries.
Kirinyaga has also invested in water infrastructure, including the Mwea Bulk Water Project, while the Wezesha Kirinyaga programme has supported farmers across key agricultural value chains.
Mutai ranks second, with his administration advancing water infrastructure through the Kimugu Water Project, which is intended to strengthen water supply in Kericho town.
The county has also expanded vocational training through the Equalizer Vocational Training Sponsorship Programme and continued upgrading healthcare facilities, including improvements at Chemosot Health Centre.
Kang’ata ranks third, with his administration expanding healthcare services through upgrades at Murang’a Level Five Hospital and other county facilities. The county has also increased access to specialised treatment through expanded dialysis services, while the Mugira Dam Water Project has connected households to piped water.
Mung’aro ranks fourth, with his administration overseeing the renovation and expansion of health facilities, including improvements to specialised services at Kilifi County Referral Hospital.
Kilifi has also expanded water infrastructure through boreholes, pipelines and water pans, while the county has embarked on affordable housing development.
Arati ranks fifth, with his administration prioritising road infrastructure through the acquisition of modern road construction equipment. Kisii is also developing a 200-bed Mother and Child Hospital to expand specialised maternal and neonatal care, while the Nyamesocho Water Project has improved access to clean water for local residents.
Abdi Guyo of Isiolo ranks sixth, with his administration strengthening healthcare through the acquisition of renal machines, a CT scanner, digital X-ray equipment and ambulances.
The county has expanded ECDE infrastructure and invested in classrooms, while boreholes have been drilled and equipped to improve access to water.
He Andrew Mwadime of Taita Taveta ranks seventh, with his administration expanding water access through projects such as the Josa-Modambogho Water Project.
Taita Taveta has also partnered with the M-PESA Foundation to develop a modern maternity wing at Wundanyi Health Centre, while solar-powered water projects are being implemented to improve water reliability.
Jeremiah Lomorukai of Turkan ranks eighth, with his administration investing in road infrastructure within Lodwar Municipality and feeder roads.
Turkana has also expanded water infrastructure through projects including the Kaituko Reverse Osmosis plant and water systems in Lodwar and Kalokol, while irrigation initiatives around the Katilu Irrigation Scheme have supported agricultural production.
Mohamud Ali ranks of Marsabit ninth, with his administration overseeing the development of Sololo Level Four Hospital and investing in vocational training through new and equipped workshops at Saku Vocational Training Centre.
Marsabit has also undertaken water and sanitation projects, including the Bakuli Level Four Water and Sewerage Project, alongside road improvement works.
Governor Susan Kihika of Nakuru county ranks tenth, with her administration expanding early childhood education infrastructure and implementing a school feeding programme.
Nakuru has also invested in healthcare through facility upgrades and improved medical equipment, while the county has pursued market development, road upgrades, sports facilities and enterprise support programmes.
The TIFA ranking places governors from different regions among the top 10, with the highlighted projects covering healthcare, water, education, roads, agriculture, vocational training and economic empowerment.
