Samidoh: How I help my children deal with online hate

Mugithi artist Samidoh (real name Samuel Muchoki) has disclosed how he helps his children deal with online hate.

Samidoh is a father of five with two partners-Edday Nderitu and Senator Karen Nyamu.

Speaking in a local interview, the mugithi sensation slammed bloggers for misquoting him or his partners on various occasions which escalates cyber bullying.

“There is a cost to everything. When I was herding cows on Oljoro Orok I was not in the blogs because I was a nobody. But when I became famous there is negativity and I have to find a balance. There is good and bad so when negativity comes in I close off one ear and move on. The problem is not us,” he began.

Samidoh pointed fingers at bloggers, saying exaggeration of his words or actions put him in a difficult position with his children, some of whom can access social media and therefore see some of the gossip.

“The problem is you guys you blow things out of proportion you misquote someone, put things here and there. So I have to sit down with my kids and explain to them that when you are a famous person this is how your life is. Someone will publish something that you yourself did not even say.”

The artist, who is also a police officer, noted that he was a present dad in his children’s lives regardless of the family dynamics.

“As you can see my children are all okay right? The only problem would be any of them lacking food… my responsibility is to raise my kids. I am raising them all equally.

“I may not be many things but I’m a good father because I’m there for my children always. I’m always there for them. When it comes to time, when it comes to financial support, I’m always there for them, all of them,” Samidoh explained.

His partner Edday Nderitu and their children are currently in the United States. Samidoh flew out there to spend time with them.
