The final batch of Team Kenya athletes who represented the country at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games arrived home today to a warm reception at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Among those received were Mathew Kipsang, gold medalist in the men’s 5,000m, Stephen Ndangiri, silver medalist in the men’s 10,000m race walk, and Wycliff Kinyamal, bronze medalist in the men’s 800m.
The trio are among the 12 Kenyan medalists who proudly represented the nation at the concluded Commonwealth Games.
The Athletes, who were received by Ministry of Sports officials, expressed their gratitude to the Government of Kenya, their coaches, Athletics Kenya, support staff, and all Kenyans for the unwavering encouragement and support throughout the championships.
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, H.E. Salim Mvurya, represented by SASDF Board Chair Hon. George Kithi, congratulated Team Kenya for their exemplary performances, commending the athletes for their dedication, discipline, and patriotism in flying the Kenyan flag high on the global stage.
The Cabinet Secretary has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to investing in talent development, athlete welfare, and creating an enabling environment for sporting excellence.
