Police in Tseikuru, Kitui County, are investigating a bizarre incident that saw a man die at the homestead of a renown witch doctor in Karengeni Village.
The circumstances sorrounding the death of Syengo Kimwele is still shrouded in secrecy.
According to the area Assistant Chief Madam Lillian Munanie Mwendwa, the 42-year-old man died while he was trying to avert an enchantment cast on him.
According to a report filed by the local administrator at Tseikuru Police Station, Syengo is said to have sought the services of the witch doctor (Nthiga Kikunda) to amend a spell allegedly cast on him after he slept with his neighbour’s wife.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of the deceased lying with his private parts seriously swollen.
“Information from the locals is that the deceased was given a ultimatum of seven day to denounce his actions and restitute but he failed to observe the deadline,” the police report seen by TV47 Digital reads in part.
Reports indicate that the deceased had sought medical attention at Tseikuru Level IV Hospital on Friday, May 29, but he was advised to go and make ammends for committing adultery with his neighbour’s wife.
The body has since been removed to Kyuso Sub-County Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
