Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is the top-performing county boss in the country, according to the latest survey by Politrack Africa.
The survey conducted between July 13–17, 2026, and released on Saturday, July 25, shows that Governor Waiguru enjoys a 61% approval rating, having overseen a raft of policy and development projects that have come in handy for the people of Kirinyaga.
Among the projects that have put Waiguru on the residents’ good books include, but not limited to, the commissioning of the Sagana Agro-Industrial Park, initiating a KSh500 million CAIP project now processing tomatoes, mangoes, and dairy, creating 2,000 jobs, rolling our of an e-voucher system for seed and fertiliser distribution, reaching 10,000 farmers with transparent, efficient support, the upgrading of the Kianyaga Level 4 Hospital, adding a 50-bed renal unit and a modern maternity wing, and the upgrading of the Kimbimbi Level 4 Hospital, adding a 40-bed surgical block and modern diagnostic equipment.
Other projects attributed to Waiguru are; the expansion of the Mwea Irrigation Scheme, adding 500 acres under rice and horticulture production, completion of the Kimbimbi Water Project, supplying clean water to 8,000 households in Mwea East and Kirinyaga Central, and the installation of 30 solar-powered boreholes in water-scarce wards, reducing water collection time from 4 hours to 30 minutes.
Kisii’s Simba Arati came second in the survey, enjoying a satisfaction score of 58.5%, with notable projects attributing to his popularity including; distribution of 200 tonnes of subsidised fertiliser to 8,000 farmers, construction of 2 modern markets in Kisii Town and Nyamache, the completion of the Kisii Mother and Child Hospital, adding 100 beds, and the equipping of all 11 sub-county hospitals with modern diagnostic equipment.
Other projects that made Kisii residents happy with Arati are; completion of the Nyamira-Kisii Water Supply Project, serving 10,000 households and the rehabilitation of 12 boreholes in Gucha and South Mugirango.
The third most-performing county boss, the survey says, is Narok’s Patrick Ole Ntuntu, boasting an approval rating of 57.3%. Some of the many projects attributed to Governor Ntuntu include; commissioning of three water projects—Olmusereji, Lemek and Mararianta—in Mara Ward, Narok West Sub-County, initiating the Suswa Water Supply Project, launched during phase one of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), the commissioning of a maternity wing at Mulot Health Center and the Ilmotiok maternity wing in Ilmotiok ward.
Other popular projects in Narok County include; The upgrading of Nairegie Enkare to a Level 4 hospital to serve the entire Narok East Sub-County, his administration focused on livestock development through water projects like Oloshaiki, providing watering points for livestock farmers,. and the Mass Livestock Vaccination Campaign to combat Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR).
