“We shouldn’t be a community that’s intolerant to different views!” – Alego Usonga MP aspirant Omoro

Alego Usonga parliamentary hopeful Dan Omoro has has issued a strong call to voters and political actors in the Country to reject violence, intimidation and political intolerance ahead of the August 10 polls.

Speaking during the burial of his nephew in Rasugu village, Omoro called for a democratic environment where all candidates can freely present their manifestos to voters.

“The politics we would like to see in Alego Usonga, and the whole country really, should be politics based on issues, not politics based on coercion and violence,” he said.

Omoro said residents should accommodate divergent political views and allow aspirants to explain their ideas without fear of intimidation.

He warned against hostility toward people who support different political parties or candidates, saying the exchange of diverse views was essential to identifying policies that would benefit the constituency.

“We should not be a community that is intolerant to different views,” Omoro said. “It’s only when you have a marriage of many views that you distill and come up with those that will help the people.”

He also urged young people not to allow politicians to use them to cause violence during campaigns.

Omoro said political competitors often maintain cordial relationships despite their differences, while their supporters bear the consequences of political confrontations.

“As leaders, the youth have never seen us fight. I will meet my competitor anywhere, and we will not fight among ourselves,” he said. “So the youth should not allow themselves to be used by politicians to fight among themselves.”

He pledged to conduct a peaceful campaign focused on addressing the socioeconomic needs of Alego Usonga residents.
